The white flowers have five petals joined at their base which form a tube that is enclosed by a green calyx.
Flowers appear from May to October. Now thought that White campion was a native to this country but was probably introduced into Britain in the Bronze Age.
It prefers deep, well drained soils in hedge banks, at the edges of arable fields and waste places.
