Both leatherjackets and chafer grubs attack grass roots causing identical symptoms of yellow patches and slow growth. A variety of birds as well as foxes and badgers do further damage to the lawn as they hunt for food. Leatherjackets are about 3cm long with NO LEGS and brown in colour. Chafer grubs are larger, creamy coloured with legs. If you can identify the culprit then use the appropriate control, If both are present or you are unable to identify them, then use this Lawn Pest Pack. Apply with a watering can or hose end feeder (recommended). This is a perishable product- store in fridge and use by the expiry date on the pack. Best applied int he autumn (Sept) when the pests are newly hatched and most susceptible to the nematodes in the products. If the pests are discovered at other times of year i.e. now, you can still treat but the leatherjacket killer needs to be applied at double strength i.e. the pack supplied will treat 50 sqm as the Leatherjackets are much harder to kill at this time of year. YOU MUST ALSO TREAT IN SEPTEMBER AS WELL.
