Perlite is made from natural rock that has been crushed, then heated to almost 1000 degrees C. It is an extremely light, coarse growing medium that provides great aeration to the soil, providing air to the roots and increasing overall health. Ideal for propogation from cuttings, potting mixes, container growing and general soil enrichment to break up heavy clay soils or drain wet soils.You can mix it up to 50:50 with standard compost to make a free draining mix, perfect for cultivating plants for bonsai.
