Pitcher Plants are both unusual and effective Carnivorous Plants that can easily be grown as an Indoor House Plant. Growing either upright or horizontally it produces vase like trumpets which are extremely attractive in their own right; white tops are heavily veined with crimson red.
Despite their beauty, Pitcher Plants are absolutely deadly to flies, mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies. They lure their prey to the top of the funnel with the promise of sweet nectar, as the unsuspecting victim crawls in, they slip down and are quickly trapped in the water that's held inside at the bottom and then slowly digested.
Re-pot further as necessary and grow indoors in a bright area, ideally with four hours of full sun per day. This plant originates from swamps and wetlands so will need permanently moist (but not soggy) soil. Water regularly via a saucer and avoid watering from above, use rainwater or bottled water where possible as Carnivorous Plants do not like the chemicals contained in tap water.
