According to Monty Don, snail and slug control is the number one problem that gardeners have
The minute spring arrives the telltale holes appear in young plants and new growth.Once the plants are bigger and stronger, they aren`t as appealing to slugs and snails and so better able to defend themselves
Slug pellets for me are not an option and despite their popularity, they are one of the least effective methods of slug and snail control, killing no more than 10% of the slug population in your average garden. However, they can pose a real hazard to other wildlife, pets and even young children
Egg shells, copper tape, cat fur and lemon juice, have all failed to stop the attacks in my garden and so my husband designed Snail Offence® for all round control
As a gardener, you will be aware that slugs and snails do not like to cross copper as it reacts with the slime they produce and feels unpleasant. By putting the fence around your plants, pots or raised beds, you are protecting them for as long as you need and after the summer you can store the copper fence away for use the folllowing year
You can see from the before and after photographs just how effective the copper mesh is
We supply 10 plastic pegs with each 15 foot length as I find that one peg every 18" works best. They are long pegs so that they can be pushed into the ground to provide a solid base for the copper tape
The fence is 4" high and double thickness, but can also be opened up to give a depth of 8" or cut lengthways to double the length. It offers strength and durability compared to the older style copper tapes
TIP
Bend around 1cm of mesh at the top of the fence outwards, to make a `lip`
There is nothing else on the market as strong or as effective, but If you try Snail Offence® and are disappointed in any way, please feel free to return and ask Amazon for a refund
