Surely a plant that needs no introduction. Worthy of a place in any garden and a favourite for children to grow. Incidentally, an ideal plant to grow in a large clump at the foot of large trees or near the edge of a pool. They are surprisingly tolerant of partial shade. There are now also plenty of varieties that are great for cutting - big and dramatic and, of particular interest to the writer - no skill required for arranging! Just stick them in a (large) vase.
