Tasmanian Tree Fern -Dicksonia Antarctica-Approx 40cm Tall & Potted into a 3 litre pot. These plants produce large fern like leaves in the Spring from the centre of the trunk, which then die back in late Autumn. If buying in the Winter or early Spring you will be buying a trunk which will then sprout as soon as the weather warms up.
These unusual plants like acid, well drained soil, preferably with some added bark. Prefer partial shade and need watering and feeding well if leaving in the pot. Eventual height and spread is approx 3M, but they are quite slow growing in the UK climate.
These plants are normally hardy but should be protected from hard winters by wrapping sacking or similar around the trunks and over the trunk top. Or if potted they could be brought into a cool conservatory for the winter.
