Tillandsia ionantha rubra is a great little air plant which is particularly suitable for terrariums or mounting on driftwood. These take their moisture from the air and are very easy to look after. They just need a spritz of water once a week. They can also benefit from a special Tillandsia spray that contains nutrients once every other week.

  • Has the most appealing red foliage.
  • Native to Mexico.
  • Tillandsia naturally grow on rocks and sometimes on tree branches.
  • They do not need to be planted in compost.
  • The plant can be finely misted with luke warm water or can be briefly dunked in rainwater.
  • Tillandsias have tiny scales on their leaves through which they absorb water from the atmosphere.
  • Ensure the plant dries within an hour or so.
  • Eventual size: up to 15cm
