French marigold "King Tut", the French marigold (Tagetes patula nana) impresses with incredibly decorative flowers. Two-tone, purple inflorescences consist of two types of flowers.
The centers consist of bright yellow disc flowers, which are surrounded by wide mahogany flowers on the outside. "King Tut", the French marigolds are 20 - 40 cm tall and develop broadly branched shoots.
Flowers of this spreading variety become great adornments for borders and flower beds. You can also use them for edges and fascinating container arrangements.
French marigolds are very easy to cultivate and can be pulled onto the field by the direct sow in May. However, you can instead prepare seedlings and sow the marigold seeds early in the spring in a warm and bright room. The finished seedlings should be transplanted outdoors in the second half of May when there is no longer any risk of spring frosts.
This easy-care plant grows well in any kind of garden soil, tolerates heat and lack of water at regular intervals. It can be grown in a sunny or partially shaded location.
